Instruction for use
For optimal results preferably start as soon as the wound has fully closed, any scabs have disappeared, and stitches have been removed
Clean and dry your skin before applying the silicone sheet around the scar
Remove the protective film from the back of the silicone sheet and apply Scarban to the scar
Make sure the sheet covers at least 2 cm around the scar. Trim to size if needed
Ensure good adhesion and durability of the silicone sheet by removing any hair around the scar area
Wear the silicone sheet for at least 12 hours per day, gradually increasing to a maximum of 23 hours for optimal effectiveness. The purpose of building up gradually is to allow the skin to become accustomed to the silicone
Clean the silicone sheet daily using the provided soap to maintain its condition and adhesive strength
If necessary, the silicone sheet can be fixed in place with an adhesive or elastic bandage
After removal of the silicone sheet, the skin may be treated with a hydrating cream, such as ALHYDRAN
Where to store your Scarban silicone sheet?
Before storing it is essential to clean the Scarban silicone sheet. Rub the silicone sheet with a few drops of Scarban Silicone cleaning soap and remove as much dirt as possible with the soap and lukewarm running water. Strength of adhesion will reduce on contact with soap and water. Allow the silicone sheet to dry, on a dry and clean surface, with the sticky side facing upwards. Air drying it fully helps maintain its stickiness. The adhesive strength will gradually return as the sheet dries. Only use or store the silicone sheet when it is completely dry.
When you are not wearing the silicone sheet, you can place the dry sheet back on the original plastic backing, keep it in a resealable plastic bag, or use a clean, dry container.
If you temporarily have to remove the sheet, due to sporting activities or massage, you can hang the edge of the sheet over the side of the bathroom mirror or place it with the non-sticky side over a towel rack. When reapplying it, ensure the scar area is clean and dry,
Frequently asked questions
When can I use silicone scar sheets after abdominal hysterectomy?
You can start using silicone scar sheets after the wound has completely closed, the stitches have been removed, and any scabs have disappeared. This is important to ensure that the sheets adhere properly and do not interfere with the healing process of the wound. For optimal results, start as soon as possible. For best results, wear the silicone sheet for at least 12 hours a day. Gradually increase up to 23 hours as your skin adjusts. Clean the sheet daily to keep it adhesive and effective. Scarban silicone sheets are safe and effective at both new and old hysterectomy scars.
How long should I use silicone sheets after abdominal hysterectomy for the best results?
Use the silicone sheet for as long as the scar is raised, red, or causing discomfort. It typically takes 3 to 6 months for a scar to normalise, but in some cases, longer use may be necessary. Each Scarban pack lasts approximately 4 to 8 weeks if used and maintained correctly. If needed, additional sheets may be required for long-term therapy.
How long does one hysterectomy pack last?
Each Scarban Hysterectomy pack contains 1 reusable silicone sheet. The silicone sheet can be used for approximately 4 to 8 weeks, when cleaned and maintained correctly. Depending on the duration of treatment, additional sheets may be required for long-term scar care.
